ITT Accreditation Success!

We are delighted to announce that our consortium of partners operating in Yorkshire and the Humber has been successful in becoming an accredited Initial Teacher Training (ITT) provider from September 2024. The results of round one, shared on Monday 16th May, saw only 80 providers accredited nationally.

A range of existing SCITTs, School Direct partners and Multi Academy Trusts worked together to create a compelling vision for teacher training in Yorkshire and the Humber, and beyond:

  • Delta Academies Trust
  • Doncaster ITT Partnership, including a range of local partners
  • Five Towns ITT Partnership, including a range of partners in Wakefield
  • Harbour Learning Trust
  • Inspire Partnership Multi Academy Trust
  • New Collaborative Learning Trust
  • Pontefract Academies Trust
  • The Rodillian Multi Academy Trust
  • Tykes Teaching Alliance
  • Yorkshire Three Counties SCITT (based in Minsthorpe Community College), including a range of local partners

Rachael Merritt, Principal at Minsthorpe Community College stated

“Minsthorpe Community College is excited about the opportunity to collaborate more widely with schools and colleges across the region in delivering high quality teacher training. This will allow us to strengthen further our impact on the development of this inspiring profession, which in turn influences the futures of our students and our community.”

We welcome other schools and organisations who wish to join us in our mission to deliver high quality initial teacher training and develop great teachers in the North.

The DfE feedback commended the strength of the partnership:

“The strength of the proposal is the nature of the proposed partnership; the merger of three SCITTs, School Direct Partnerships and others demonstrates how the organisation has relevant expertise and capacity to deliver at scale. The applicant has identified expertise that its partners will bring to deliver high-quality ITT.”

We are excited to develop this partnership, Exchange Teacher Training, and build on the significant capacity and expertise in teacher training across all phases, subjects and specialisms. Local trainees can also enjoy a state-of-the-art campus facility, The Education Exchange, situated in the heart of the region in West Yorkshire with excellent road links to the M1 and M62.

Jo Twiby, Executive Director of Teaching School Hubs, commented:

“This accreditation is the culmination of two years of genuine collaboration between credible partners in Yorkshire and the Humber, and beyond. We leave our egos at the door and focus on what is important: the children and young people we all serve, who are mostly educated in hard-to-recruit areas and those facing extreme deprivation. We cannot wait to get started.”
